Reminder: AGM on Thursday in the CHURCH:

It is a pleasure to be able to report that 144 persons accessed the Candlewoods Residents Blog yesterday (12th August). This morning by 9:30 another 20 people had had a look at the blog.
 
This is an indication that the owners take great pride and interest in Candlewoods.
 
We understand that the Board needs to consist of at least the following positions namely:
Chairman  Directors of a) Building and Maintenance, b) Communication, c) Finance and d) Security.
 
Apart from the current serving directors another 5 individuals have made themselves available to serve on the board. Amongst them are CEO's, a Charted Accountant, a Developer / Builder, Professional Educator and Engineers.
 
A proposal will be put forward at the meeting that more than one director be put in a position as the workload and responsibility is increasing with more owners now buying / building. Alternatively, more but focussed portfolio's could de added to allow everyone to contribute in their field of specialisation.
 
 
The Home Owners Association needs to retain its "corporate memory" so that there is continuity on the strategies and action plans that is on-going. Therefore it will be proposed at the AGM, although she has stated that she wishes to step down, that KAREN SMITHHIES,  Chairperson for the last 2 years continue to this position.

Candlewoods Country Estate: Annual General Meeting of the Home Owners Association

On the 15 August 2013, at 19:00 hours, the AGM of the Candlewoods Country Estate Home Owners Association will be held in the chapel within the estate.

To our best knowledge all the owners of properties within the  Estate have been notified of the AGM. We therefore encourage everyone that owns property with in the estate to attend this very important meeting.

Included in the documents that was sent out, nominations were requested for individuals who are prepared to act as directors on the Home Owners Association Board.  Over the last number of years a very heavy burden was placed on the current directors as there were multiple challenges with owners unable or unwilling to pay levies and even legal actions.

Residents are therefore encouraged to make themselves available as directors so that the group of directors can be expanded to lessen the load on those we have been working tirelessly over the last number of  years.

Again, please attend the meeting so that we can make decisions about our common future in the estate.

What we need to address is security and the quality of life  on the Estate.

1. Security needs to be the top priority in the estate. We need to eliminate all security incidents and have everyone safe when inside the perimeter. Technology needs to be improved.

2.  Improving our sense of community is the next issue and therefore we should seriously consider the following : 
       a. Opening of a crèche or pre-school, (ask for proposals?)
       b. Reactivating the tennis club and putting in lights and recreation area for players.
       c. Consider putting a mini gym a common area by a resident that is fitness conscious and where residents can join and exercise (ask for proposals?)
       d. Expanding the play area with more equipment - a swing(s), see-saw and small Ferris wheel?

3.  On GROUPON the Ga'Rouge restaurant is regularly advertising 50% off on meals. We should consider approaching them for special deals for Candlewoods Property Owners only.

4.  Have a monthly information / communication medium - this Blog can be expanded for that purpose.
